Abstract: Because of no background noise in vivo, 19F magnetic relaxation imaging (19F MRI) has been widely used in biomedical research. Perfluorocarbons molecules are the main kinds of 19F MRI imaging tracers. The organic fluoride can achieve high 19F density, suitable relaxation time, high signal to noise ratio, as well as multimodal imaging by modification with functional groups. In recent years, 19F MRI imaging tracers have been gradually developed from organic compounds to inorganic compounds. In this review, we summarized the types, research status and application prospects of 19F MRI imaging tracers.
