Abstract: The effect of seven different gelatins on diffraction efficiency of dichromated gelatin holograms was studied. It was found that one gelatin differs greatly from another in diffraction efficiency of dichromated gelatin holograms. Highest diffraction efficiencies of dichromated gelatin holograms of active gelatins are over 80 percent and that of PA modified gelatin is between 60 and 80 percent and those of inert gelatins are below 50 percent. Dichromated gelatin holograms of active and inert gelatins are clear, but that of PA modified gelatin has “white fog”.
