Abstract: The photodegradation kinetics of novel ferrocenyl azo dye and corresponding azo dye solution has been studied by UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy. The results show that the fading process follows zero order kinetics in methanol. The ferrocenyl azo dye has relative good photostability compared with the azo dye.The results suggest that the intramolecular triplet-triplet energy transfer from azo chromophore to ferrocenyl chromophore is very efficient, which leads to increase in the photostability of the dye.
