Abstract: Photochromic liquid-crystal polymers are these liquid crystal polymers doped with or covalently bonded with photochromic molecules. The irradiation of linearly polarized light or nonpolarized light caused two-dimensional or three-dimensional photoreorientation of liquid-crystal polymers, owing to structure transformation of photochromic molecules. This paper reviews the recent development in photoreorientation of photochromic liquid-crystal polymers.

Key words: photochromic molecule, azobenzene polymer, liquid-crystal polymer, photoreorientation
