Abstract:

Three ionic liquid polymers with lithium propane sulfonic, methyl and propane sulfonic acid pendant group respectively were used as polymer matrix in polymer electrolyte-based dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Change in concentration of these three polymers in ionic liquid-based electrolyte was found to have different effects on the photovaltic performance of DSSCs. The cells with P-HI-based electrolytes have shown an increase in the short-current photocurrent (Jsc) with increasing the content of polymer with propanesulfonic acid pendant group. Upon replacing the pendant group propanesulfonic acid with lithium propanesulfonic and methyl, the performance of DSSCs were reduced. The AFM images of electrolytes were employed to investigate the difference of diffusion in these electrolytes.
