Abstract: Common engineering materials silicone BP and silica (SiO2) dispersions synthesized by the Stöber method were used to prepare functional micro/nano rough (MNR) superhydrophobic composite coatings by spray-coating. The water contact angle of the composite coatings could reach 146.5, and the sliding angle was less than 1 (the volume of test droplet is 15 μL). The conditions of spray-coating process were discussed, and under the conditions of pH=7.78.0 and suitable silicone BP/SiO2 mass ratio of spraying solution, the MNR composite coating could be formed, which is similar to the lotus leaf surface micro/nano hierarchical structure. The micrometer papilla sizes on the MNR composite coating surface increase with increase of the SiO2 content. Combined with the low surface energy of silicone BP, the MNR composite coating became superhydrophobic with anti-corrosion and anti-aging properties.
