Abstract: In order to explore the effect of transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) in the diagnosis of chronic rheumatic heart disease (RHD), 112 patients with chronic RHD were examined by TTE. The coincidence rate of TTE in diagnosis of chronic RHD valve type, stenosis, insufficiency of closure and left atrial thrombosis was observed. The results showed that the diagnosis of RHD valve type by TTE was highly consistent with the interventional/intraoperative/pathological findings, including valve stenosis, incomplete closure and left atrial thrombosis. The results confirmed that TTE has high detection rate and diagnostic accuracy in the diagnosis of valve type, valve stenosis, insufficiency, left atrial thrombosis of chronic RHD.
