Abstract: The screening value of cerebral hemodynamics by head ultrasound for the hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is analyzed in this study. 1364 newborns were enrolled. The cerebral hemodynamics of middle cerebral artery (MCA) of all newborns was detected by the head ultrasound, including the end diastolic velocity (VD), peak systolic velocity (VS) and resistance index (RI). With the clinical diagnosis to be control, the screening value of VD, VS, RI of MCA for HIE was analyzed. The result showed that there were 50 newborns (3.67%) suffering from HIE. The VD in the HIE newborns was significantly lower than that in the non-HIE newborns, while the VS and RI in the HIE newborns were significantly higher than those in the non-HIE newborns (P<0.05). The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of screening with the combination of the VD, VS, RI was significantly higher than single of them (P<0.05). From above results, it can be concluded that the cerebral hemodynamics has the good screening value for the HIE, and the combined detection is superior to a separate one.
