Abstract: Two kinds of organic/inorganic composites containing poly(phenylenevinylene)(PPV)derivative polymer and nanosized TiO2 were intensively investigated. Both the two polymers can be stably mixed with nanosized TiO2 particles obtained by using either Sol-Gel method or reversed micelle method in organic solvent such as ethanol and methylene chloride.By coating such solution on silica substrate, transparent composite films were made. The photophysical properties of polymer/TiO2 composites are evidently different from the pure polymers. The study shows the methoxy groups on the middle benzene ring change the polymer’s characteristics distinctly. The substituents and the size of TiO2 particles affect on the photophysical properties of polymers. The polymers’ luminescence properties have been apparently improved as they formed organic/inorganic composites with TiO2 particles.
