Abstract: Chromophore with two active OH groups 4’-(N,N-dihydroxyethyl)amino-4-nitroazobenzene(DR19) was synthesized and a novel organic/inorganic polymer network with fine second-order nonlinearities was designed and prepared by double-end crosslinking of DR19 through sol-gel process. It was observed that this polymer film had good SHG thermal stability under room and elevated temperatures. The results show that this crosslinking system formed a dense silicon-oxygen network structure, thus could effectively inhibit the orientation relaxation of the chromophore molecules and hence improve the thermal stability of second-order nonlinearity of the material.
