Abstract: Five 2-4’-formyl styrylbenzothiazoline compounds (FSBT) were synthesized and their spectral characteristics were studied. The results indicate that FSBT compounds possess a good spectral response at visible region which varies remarkably with different counter ions. The intermolecular aggregation of FSBT is easily formed at high concentration of aqueous solution. New absorption and emission peaks of aggregates were observed at long wavelengths by the second-order derivative absorption spectra and the fluorescence spectra. This property is very important to enhance the photosensitivity.
