Abstract: The long-wavelength(633nm) sensitive photoinitiating system composed of 1,3,3 trimethyll-2-[5-(1,3,3-trimethyl-2-indolylidene)-1,3-pentadienyl]-indoliumiodide(NK 529),2-chlorohexaarylbiimidazole(o-Cl-HABI) and hydrogen donor,3-mercapto-4-methyl-4H-1,2,4,-triazole(MTA) can be used to initiate the polymerization of methyl methacrylate(MMA). The kinetic study was carried out in chloroform solution at 30℃ by dilatometry. The relation shipbetween polymerization rate and the concentration of NK-529,o-Cl-HABI,MTA and MMA was studied. As the result shows, the kinetic formulation was deduced: Rp=K[NK-529]0.51[HABI]0.41[MTA]0.36[MMA]1.0. The photopolymer system can record stable hologram under 633 nm He-Ne laser.
