Abstract: In this paper firstly the exposure properties of holograms in KT-D silver halide holographic plate are studied experimentally. The relation curve between the diffraction efficiencies of the holograms and the exposure energy are given. Then the average refractive index of silver halide emulsion and refractive index modulation of the holograms are estimated based on Kogelnik's coupled wave theory for volume holograms. After that,the mechanisms for forming refractive index modulation in the holograms are analyzed theoretically. Finally the performance parameters of KT-D silver halide holographic plate are obtained.
