To improve the image quality of the positive-type diazo photosensitive materials’ a series of studies related to the colour efficiency of the formed azo dye, the activities of the coupling reaction between diazonium salts and its couplers, the self-coupling effect, the solvent effect, The spectral sensitivity and the fastness of the image have been carried out. In consequence, a kind of diazo film with excellent image quality was developed.

electrode modified by ferrocene derivative——ferrocenyl-n-octadecanoale L-B films was measured. The estimation of element parameter values occurring in equivalent circuit was performed by using simplex method. Reaction rate constant

Analysis of interface impedance and electrode reaction kenitic performances indicated that modified ferrocenyl-n-octadec-anoale L-B films show impedance behaviours of electroactive molecules differing obviously with that obtained in solid state. The sensitized photolysis of diazonium salts by several new thioxanthone compounds has been investigated in this work. Results indicated that the sensitized reaction was realized by the route of electron-transfer. The substituents in diazonium salts and the solvent used possess important effect on the photolysis of diazonium salts. It is interesting to find that the rate of photo-polymerization of MMA initiated by this system was different from the rate of photolysis. This phenomenon was discussed briefly.

A flow-apparatus and a numerical model of diffusion with a second-order reaction in a gelatin layer were used to investigate the kinetic process of the coupling reaction of quinonedi-imines (QDI) with a water-soluble non-diffusible coupler in the gelatin layer. The results showed that the kinetic curves obtained from both experiments and the numerical model were in good agreement. It proved that the coupling reaction was a second-order reaction and the C

-substituted coupler did not form micelle in the gelation layer. This combination of experiments with the given model has been used to find the diffusion coefficient of QDI and the rate constant of the coupling reaction in the gelatin layer.

The role of iridium salt in AgBr emulsions was investigated in this work. It was prepared that monodisperse cubic AgBr grain with edge length of 0.3

The surface sensitivity of the emulsion with Ir internal sensitization is decreased, but its internal sensitivity is increased. The Ir internal sensitized and fogged emulsion can form direct positive image after exposure and development. The Photoelectrons may be trapped by the internal Ir-centers forming internal latent image and the surface fog centers on the grain may be destroyed by the holes.

It was found that fogging centers were formed in the interior of emulsion grain and grain surface, and fogging centers were formed preferentially in the interior of emulsion grain. It is suggested that fogging agent molecules collided with silver ions on the grain surface forming single isolated silver atom, which subsequently loses electrons to the conduction band of the crystal. Therefore, it is conclused that electron of fogging agent molecules are transfered to conduction band of silver halide crystal such as photo-electron in the conduction band of tht crystal, electrons of conduction band are trapped by sensitivity centers and lattice disorder forming fogging centers.

A numerical model was designed to simulate the kinetic process of diffusion and reaction of one reactant with another on the interface of droplets in a gelatin layer. The computing procedure of the model was given and its applicability was discussed. Using the combination of the model with experimentally kinetic measurements, the diffusion coefficient of the reactant in gelatin medium and the specific rate constant of the interfacial reaction could be determined and meanwhile the time and spatial distributions of reactants or product in a gelatin layer could also be obtained. When the necessary parameters were available, the model could be used to predict the kinetics under various conditions.

The bulk and solution photopolymerization of vinyl butyl ether were studied using diph-enyl-4-thiophenoxyphenyl sulfonium salt (DPTS) as photoinitiator. In bulk polymerization, the rate of polymerization (
R

The fluorescence spectra and fluorescence quenching of some substituted pyrylium salts have been studied in this work. It was found that under liquid N
2
temperature the exciplex emission in the region of longer wave length can be observed from the excited molecule of pyrylium salts with some quenchers used as an electron donor. Obtained results also indicated that a ground state stable CT complex can be formed when the pyrylium salt mixed with the electron donor. Therefore, the emission of excited CT complex in the frozen condition may be observed evidently, due to the difficult dissociation of the excited CT complex of the diminution of some routes of radiationless decay.

The conditions of photocatalytic decomposition of organophosphorous compounds in semiconductor suspension have been studied. It was found that the simultaneous presence of light, photocatalyst and oxygen was necessary. The rates of photodecomposition of two organophosphorous compounds over various semiconductor catalysts were determinated, and the rates were depended on the kinds and surface properties of photocatalysts. The possible mechanism of the photodecomposition has been discussed.

Ultra-weak luminescence results from a series of oxidative radical reaction to lipid and organic peroxide formation. The results showed that the luminescence was increased after adding Feton solution and its intensity depended on concentration of Feton solution. The ·OH-in-duced photon emission decayed according to exponential decay. The variation of the luminescence might involve directly the ·OH radical participation of

The isomerization and photoconductivity of polyphenyacetylene have been studied in this paper. The cis-trans isomerization experiment indicated that the conjugation length of the trans-structure is longer than that of cis-structure, as a results, its conductivity and photo/dark ratio are higher than that of the
cis
-PPA. In contrast to the
trans
-structure, the
cis
-PPA showed very small photoconductivity so that it was not able to find out the difference in this experimental condition.
