    In this paper, the high resolution transmission electronic microscopy (HRTEM, resolution of 0.2 nm) is employed to observe the crystal structure of the developed silver filament from the nanometer-sized silver halide emulsions. We carry out the research work on the “empty tube” and the “core-thread” remaining in the tube after prolonged fixation. The results show that the thin string is a kind of polycrystal silver consisted of many crystalline grains, containing many microtwins and defects. There is no difference in the crystal structures between silver filaments and the core-thread. Besides, according to our observation, the empty tube is another kind carbon nanotube made up of amorphous carbon. The reaction in the empty carbon tube may become a distinctive method to prepare the various thinner nanometer-sized string.

    A kind of hollow silver halide microcrystals was prepared by the method of using non-aqueous solvent. The holes in the hollow silver halide microcrystals were observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM), and the preferential latent image formation position of hollow microcrystals was studied by surface development and observed by transmission electron microscope. It showed that the latent image is always formed preferentially around the holes of the hollow silver halide microcrystals, and shrinkage phenomenon was observed before and after the hollow grains were treated with water. The sensitometric results showed that the sensitivity of this kind of hollow silver bromide emulsion is much higher than those of cubic silver bromide emulsion and the emulsion of hollow silver bromide prepared by the method of halogen displacement.

    The preparation and electron spin resonance of two types of internally sensitive core-shell emulsions: with chemical structure imperfections and with physical lattice imperfections were studied in this paper. It was found that both the internal sensitivity and the intensity of ESR signal increased with increase of the chemical sensitization time to a maximum and then decreased. The ESR signal intensity decreased with decrease of the core/shell ratio, and with increase of the fogging level. Different desensitizing dyes had different effects on the internal photographic property and ESR signal intensity because of their desensitizing mechanisms. The results can be explained based on the behavior of the positive hole within the silver halide crystal.

    The film forming properties of 5,10,15,20-tetra-(4-N,N,N-dimethylhexadecyl aminophenyl) porphyrin (TDMC16 PP) on the air/water interface was studied. Multilayers of amphiphilic porphyrin were built up on the glass and quartz substrate. The structure of LB films was characterized by UV-Vis absorption spectra, polarized UV Vis absorption spectra, fluorescence spectra, and low-angle X ray diffraction (LAXD). The experimental results indicated that TDMC16 PP has good film forming performance, TDMC16 PP LB films have good stability, homogeneity, and periodicity, the long alkyl chains are not straight and the porphyrin macroring in LB films lay on the substrate with a tilted angle 42.5°.

    Two phycobiliprotein conjugates PEC-APC and PEC-PC were synthesized by a heterobifunctional coupling reagent, N-sccinimidly 3-(2-pyridyldithio) propionate. The phycobiliproteins are linked by disulfide bond. The absorption and fluorescence spectra indicate that the constructure and the conformation of the biliproteins were maintained after reaction.The energy transfer phenomenon was observed from fluorescence spectra. The energy transfer efficiency from PEC to APC calculated from the fluorescence spectra is about 90%.The excited state life time of PEC emission in conjugate PEC PC was 0.86 ns, compared with 2.1 ns for free PEC, which indicated that energy transfer did occur from PEC to C-PC in conjugate PEC-PC. The energy transfer was stopped by the addition of dithiothreitol (DTT) to the solutions of the conjugates. These results further confirmed that there was energy transfer in the conjugates.

    A study of the enhancement effect on the fluorescence intensity of terbium acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) system by lutetium,gadolinium or yttrium was carried out.In the presence of these elements the fluorescence of the Tb-ASA system was enhanced by factors of 108,58 and 73. The standard addition method was used for the determinations of terbium in synthetic sample and standard sample and the results were satisfactory. The recovery of terbium was in the range 90.5~105.6%.The fluorescence enhancement mechanism and the effect of surfactant were discussed.

    Experiments were designed to verify the kinetic model of dye cloud formation in color silver halide system. A coating structure in the form of "sandwich",in which an intermediate emulsion layer with AgX grains and coupler droplets was coated between an upper and a bottom gelatin layer with only dispersed coupler, was adopted to ensure the formed dye clouds were separated from each other after exposure and color development. The applicability of the model was confirmed by comparison between sizes of dye clouds measured and calculated. Then, taking advantage of the model, the optimizations for size and morphology of the dye clouds formed under many different factors were explored.

    UV induced Cr (Ⅵ) reduction in Cr (Ⅵ) 4CP co existed pollution system mainly results from the redox reaction between Cr (Ⅵ) ion and photolysis products of 4CP.The light intensity and system acidity affect Cr (Ⅵ) reduction dramatically.The pollutants can be easily removed and decontaminated because some precipitate of products is formed after the photo induced reaction in neutral medium.This is an important result for the application of photo chemistry to the decontamination in complex component pollution mixtures.The presence of 4CP has no interference on Cr (Ⅵ) dark adsorption on TiO2. Under UV irradiation, the reaction in Cr (Ⅵ) 4CP TiO2 system is much complicated and two different reactions contribute to the overall Cr (Ⅵ) reduction:photo induced homogeneous reaction between Cr (Ⅵ) and 4CP,and photocatalytic reduction of Cr (Ⅵ) ion by TiO2 as an efficient semiconductor photocatalyst,which is promoted by another photocatalytic half reaction:4CP degradation.Cr (Ⅵ) reduction in Cr (Ⅵ) 4CP and Cr (Ⅵ) 4CP TiO2 systems under UV irradiation are both zero order reactions.In the condition of excluding other homogeneous reactions,the promotion effect of 4CP on photocatalytic reduction of Cr (Ⅵ) ion is distinguished and proved.

    A water-based near-UV negative chemical amplified photoresist was developed,consisting of styrene-co-N-(4-hydroxyphenyl)maleimide with high glass transition temperature (Tg), hexamethoxymethylmelamine (HMMM) triphenyl sulfonium salt.The conditions of photolithograpy process were preliminarily defined.Based on our research,the pattern with 1.39 µm lines and spaces was obtained by the conventional UV photolithography under the optimum parameters.

    The effect of CdS, ZnS colloid nanoparticles on the photophysical properties (absorption spectra, fluorescence spectra and fluorescence lifetimes) of amphiphilic porphyrin 5, 10, 15, 20-tetrakis-(4-N-hexadecylpyridiniumyl) porphyrin (TC16 PyP (4)) was studied. The experimental results reveal: adding CdS, ZnS nanoparticles to a TC16 PyP (4) solution, TC16 PyP (4) is absorbed onto the surface of colloid nanoparticles. This absorption leads to red-shifted absorption, fluorescence emission spectra and the quenching of TC16 PyP (4) s fluorescence emission. These changes are related to the formation of complex. Nearly 90% of the fluorescence emission of 5×106 mol/L TC16 PyP (4) can be quenched with 6.8×10-4 mol/L CdS colloid nanoparticle or 8.1×10-4 mol/L ZnS colloid nanoparticle. According to the fluorescence quenching curves, the apparrent association constant of TC16 PyP (4) with CdS, ZnS nanoparticles are 1.42×103 (mol/L)-1, 1.07×103 (mol/L)-1, respectively.

    It is indicated in present study that the bone material can be digested by trypsin. An attempt was made to correlate the relative content of different conformation components with the concentration of trypsin. It is shown that the component (such as α 1) content was not in direct proportion to the trypsin concentration and a maxium was found. The experiment showed that the migration position of the components (in particular,α,β and γ) of enzyme-processed gelatin is completely coincided with that of gelatin produced by alkaline-processed method at industrial scale in electrophoresis scanning pattern. The paper also discussed the feature of molecular structure of enzyme-processed gelatin and the possible mechanism.

    Five 2-4’-formyl styrylbenzothiazoline compounds (FSBT) were synthesized and their spectral characteristics were studied. The results indicate that FSBT compounds possess a good spectral response at visible region which varies remarkably with different counter ions. The intermolecular aggregation of FSBT is easily formed at high concentration of aqueous solution. New absorption and emission peaks of aggregates were observed at long wavelengths by the second-order derivative absorption spectra and the fluorescence spectra. This property is very important to enhance the photosensitivity.

    Mixed crystal from metal-free phthalocyanine (H2PC) and oxovanadium phthalocyanine (VOPc) are prepared by acid-paste method. Then Vis-near-IR absorption spectra, ESR and X-ray powder diffraction are used to characterize the mixed crystal. The results indicate that the shifts in absorption spectra and the corresponding photosensitive wavelength can be observed with the formation of the solid crystals. The shift is a continuous function of the molar fraction for the two component system,implying that in the crystal, the aggregate number of the basic stacking structure unit which causes spectral absorption is not 2, but a value larger than that. From the X-ray powder diffraction pattern, it is found that the system is a partially miscible mixted crystal system. When the mole fraction of VOPc is higher than 0.2, it will form crystal itself.
