9-(3,5-dimethox ybenzyloxymethyl)anthracene(3)was synthesized by the coupling reaction between 9-chloromethylanthracene(1)and 3,5-dimethoxybenzyl alcohol(2)in the presence of phase-transfer catalyst and alkali.(3) exhibits in diluted solutions intramolecular [4+4] photocycloaddition reaction to the polycyclic compound (4) under the irradiation with UV.The quantitative process is completely reversible by heating.The reversible photoreaction might be used for the preparation of photo-switch.

The photocatalytic oxidation of phenanthrene was investigated in aqueous TiO
2
suspensions under UV light irradiation.The phenanthrene was preadsorbed on TiO
2
and underwent a fast and complete mineralization.In the process,some intermediate products were detected by GC-MS,the pathway of phenanthrene degradation was described.In another system,a cationic surfactant hexadecytrimethylammonium bromide(HTAB) was used to increase the solubility of phenanthrene and to accelerate the photooxidation of phenanthrene,the effect of concentration of HTAB and pH was also studied.

The spectral characteristics of soluble nickel phthalocyanines(FPcNi、MePcNi、iBPcNi、iPPcNi) were studied by UV Vis absorption spectroscopy,fluorescence spectroscopy and semi expirical ZINDO/S method.The results show that(1) the electron donating substituents caused slightly red shift with the maximum absorption wavelength(λ

The photoreactive mechanism of the N-butyl-2-ethoxy thioacridone was studied by fluorescence spectrum analysis. The results showed that upon Xe lamp irradiation,N-butyl-2-ethoxy thioacridone was transformed into corresponding acridone and the presence of the lattter was confirmed by UV-visible absorbtion spectrum and mass spectrum.The acridone could be quenched by the diphenyl iodium salt and the electron transfer mechanism between them was verified via fluorescence quenched.The experimental results indicated that the initiative effect of the photopolymerizable initiation system comprising the N-butyl-2-ethoxy thioacridone,the biphenyl iodium salt and thiosalicylic acid was the best.

、metal ions et al on the photocatalytic reduction of dichromate and photocatalytic oxidation of dichlorvos were studied.The results showed that with the addition of a small amount of H

,the photocatalytic reduction of dichromate was hindered,while the photocatalytic oxidation of dichlorvos was accelerated.With the addition of trace amounts of Cu
2+
,both of the two above mentioned reactions were accelerated.With the addition of Zn
2+
and Na
+
,no obviously effects on the reactions were observed.With the addition of methanol and toluene,the photocatalytic reduction of dichromate was accelerated,while the photocatalytic oxidation of dichlorvos was hindered.The possible mechanisms of the additives on the photocatalytic reduction of dichromate and photocatalytic oxidation of dichlorvos were also investigated.

In this paper seven samples were collected,which differ greatly from each other in physical property.The content of α component was determined by SDS PAGE method.The gel strength of gelatin was determined by gel strength instrument.An attempt was made to correlate between these two characteristics.It was shown that there is a very good linear relationship between the content of α component and gel strength.The α component content is considerde to be the main factor affecting the gel strength of gelatin.
