GdAlO3:RE powder was prepared by nitric-citric process. Luminescent intensity of GdAlO3:Eu decreased when it was co-doped with Pr, and GdAlO3:Tb co-doped with Ce showed the same phenomenon. The results from excitation spectra indicated that there are the resonant energy transfer between Eu and Pr, Tb and Ce, by the absorption and emission of lower energy phonon. The resonant energy transfer between different RE species is one of main reasons why luminesent intensity decreasing.

The effects of different sizes and contents of the cubic AgBr grains on the sensitivity of PTG materials were studied, in which hydrophilic polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) was used as a binder and the cubic AgBr emulsions were obtained from an ex-situ preparation. The results showed that the sensitivity of PTG reached a maximum when AgBr grain sizes were about 100—200 nm or in the ratio of 4 to 10 AgBr mol/AgSt mol. In addition, it was shown that a little gelatin introduced from the AgBr emulsion would not bring about any significant effect on the sensitivity of PTG system.

Using n-cetylpyridinium chloride as template, mesoporous TiO2 was prepared by direct synthesis at room temperature. At the same time, the effect of synthesized conditions on samples were studied. The samples were characterized by FT-IR, TG-DTA, XRD, and N2 adsorption techniques respectively. The results show that specific surface and thermal stabability are improved by using mesitylene and phosphoric acid. At the same time, it can exhibit the better photoreactivity.

For the question of the photo-action kinetics in the formation process of latent image in silver halide material, the influences of exposure intensity on the behavior of photo-generation carriers and electron trap effect are analyzed. It is obtained that the main factor influencing the decay of photoelectrons evolves from electron traps to the combination of electron traps and recombination centers, and then to recombination centers.

In the emulsifying process of silver bromide microcrystals in the double-jet apparatus controlled by a microcomputer, a specific quantity of formate was added at different time when the crystal growth to obtain a series of cubic AgBr emulsions in which formate ions were doped into different depths of AgBr microcrystals. The results from measurements of photographic properties of these emulsions showed:1) that the sensitivities of formate-doped emulsions, relative to that of the undoped emulsion as the controlled one, were remarkably increased;2) that the closer to the surface of grains the formate doped in AgBr grains was, the greater the sensitivities of the doped emulsions were;3) that a significant cooperative sensitization of the internal doped formate with the surface sulfur-plus-gold and dye sensitizations was observed;4) that the maximal sensitivity gain (Smax/S0) of undye-sensitized emulsions was greater than those of dye-sensitized ones;5) that fog densities of all emulsions doped by formate, including those primitive, sensitized by sulfur-plus-gold and by green-sensitive dye, were kept in a reasonably low level.

2,4-dichloro-3-ethyl-6-nitrophenol is an important intermediate for color film developer. We reported here a novel synthesis of the compound via TCIA chlorination, hydrolysis and acidification.Due to the easy handling of TCIA,the convenient detection for the process, this new chlorination method is very mild and echo-friendly and therefore cost-effective.When loaded with 1.5 mol (equivalence) of TCIA,the reaction proceeded smoothly in high yield and the tetrachloro by-product was effectively minimized. The solvents in the first two steps were recyclely used without severely affecting the results.

Several sulfonium salts with different anions containing naphthyl group were prepared. These compounds show high pyrolysis temperature and good solubilities in commonly used organic solvents. The UV absorption of the PAGs in aqueous solution and in polyethylene glycol film was measured. The PAGs containing no benzene group display good transparency at 193 nm. The photolysis properties of the PAGs exposed with lower pressure Hg lamp (254 nm) were investigated with rapid weakening of the absorption peak around 254 nm after exposure. These PAGs are applicable to deep UV, such as ArF(193 nm), chemically amplified photoresist.

Au/TiO2 photocatalyst was prepared by means of dipping method. X-ray electron spectroscopy(XPS)and transmission electron microscop(TEM)were used to characterize the as-prepared Au/TiO2. The testing results indicated that the average size of deposited Au was 4-6 nm, and that the binding energy of Au 4f7/2 was located at 83.3 eV, 0.7 eV lower than that of bulk Au (84.0 eV). With photocatalytic oxidation of propylene as model reaction, the photocatalytic property of Au/TiO2 was measured. The experimental result revealed that the photoactivity of Au/TiO2 was higher than that of TiO2, and that the activity of Au/TiO2 increased as depositing amount of Au increased from 0.1% to 5.0%.

The photosensitive ultra-thin multilayer films were fabricated via self-assembly of Pt nanoparticles capped with mercaptoacetic acid (MA-PtNP) and nitro-substituted diazoresin(NDR). By means of selective exposure under UV light and developing in SDS aqueous solution the exposed regions of the film,in which the bond nature of the film has been converted from ionic to covalent, are not removed and are kept completely on the substrate, however the un-irradiated parts of the film can be removed completely to form fine images. The formed images were characterized with AFM and SEM.

The interaction of tetracycline(TC)-Cu(II) complex with DNA was studied with UV-Vis absorption spectrometry. The absorption spectrum studies indicate that DNA can interact with tetracyline(TC)-Cu(II) complex. The way of interaction between the complex and DNA varies in accordance with the types of complex and the concentration of DNA.If tetracycline interact with Cu(II) to form 1:1 complex, the complex can interact with DNA by way of intercalation when the concentration of DNA is lower; when the concentration of DNA is higher,in addition to interacting with DNA by way of intercalation, the complex can interact with DNA by other way. If tetracycline interact with Cu(II) to form 1:2 complex, the complex interact with DNA by way of intercalation mainly. That two kinds of the complex intercalate DNA all by way of tetracycline inserted in it.
