PbS nanoparticales as a sensitizer is added to the 0.8 μm cubic silver bromide emulsion for the chemical sensitization. Under illuminated by pulse laser, the decay characteristics of free photo-electrons and shallow-trapped electrons in the cubic silver bromide emulsion sensitized by PbS nanoparticales with the continuous increase of sensitization time are obtained by using the microwave absorption and dielectric spectrum measure technique. The influence of electron traps in silver bromide microcrystal, on the behavior of the photoelectron’ s movement is discussed. The relationship between the effects of electron traps and sensitization time is analyzed. By the contrast of the decay characteristics between the unsensitized sample and the sensitized samples, the optimum sensitizing-time on this experiment condition is 60 min.

The photocatalytic nitrogen removal from water by coupling photocatalytic oxidation of ammonia and reduction of nitrite were studied, using an immobilized TiO2 catalyst. The preparation of the catalyst films, their photocatalytic activities and effect of conditional factors(especially pH)on nitrogen removal were also investigated. Under N2 flow, Nitrite reduction was the major reaction under acidic condition, while ammonia oxidation was the main reaction under basic condition. By adjusting the pH value of the solution using formic acid, photocatalysis carried out under acidic condition first for 0.5 h to 1 h, then under basic condition by adjusting pH, increased the overall nitrogen removal level. The result of the experiment showed that after 2 h irradiation, the removal of TN more than 50% by the photocatalytic process was achieved. The catalyst film can be used repeatedly without decline of activity. A reaction mechanism was proposed for photocatalytic nitrogen removal.

The UV crosslinking reaction of unsaturated polyphosphoester with N-vinyl pyrrolidone was investigated by gel content measurement. The experiment results show that photoinitiators can remarkably improve the gel content of curing product. Among all initiators used in this study, BE, BN and DEAP show high initiating activities. The gel content of curing product increased with the increasing of initiator amount within low concentration, but higher concentration of photoinitiator would reduce the gel content. The optimum amount of BN and BE was 2.4E-5(mol/g UPPE)and 0.6E-5(mol/g UPPE), respectively. The gel content of crosslinked network obtained from unsaturated polyphosphoester with Mw = 4040 g·mol-1 is lower than that of with higher molecular weight when the irradiation time was less than 2 minutes, but an opposite results would obtained by extending irradiation time. The surface layer of sample absorbed the UV light and decreased the pho-tocrosslinking reaction rate of the deep layer. Gel content of the sample with 1.5 mm in thickness would approach to that of sample with 1.0 mm in thickness by extending irradiation time. The crosslinking reaction was uncompleted for the sample with 6.0 mm in thickness after 24 min irradiation.

Take the pentaerythritol as "the central core", cause it to react with 1,2,4-benzenetri-carboxylic anhydride and the epichlorohydrine and synthesize the extra branched alkali soluble polyester. Use the peripheral carboxyl group of synthetic polymer molecules to react with the gly-cidyl methacrylate, and introduce the reactive methacryloyl oxygen radical to the molecule periphery of extra branched polymer. This study has explored the effect of resin composition on photosensitiv-eness and alkali solubility. The result indicates that, through the adjustment of the peripheral carboxyl group and the reactive methacryloyl oxygen radical content, a good alkali solubility and pho-tocuring may be obtained.

Ag nanoparticles of three different sizes were prepared. The sizes of the Ag nanoparticles were measured by TEM. The TiO2 thin films doped with Ag were characterized using photocurrent measurement. The photocatalytic activities of the films were evaluated on degradation of methylene blue under UV radiation. The photocurrent and photocatalytic activity of TiO2 films were improved in some extent when loaded with Ag of different sizes. When the particle size was 6.9 nm, the photocurrent and photocatalytic activity reached the maximum.

Nanostructured SrFeO3 was prepared by citrate method under ultrasonic radiation. The photocatalytic activity was investigated with phenol as photocatalytic degradation model reactant. The catalyst was characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),TEM,UV-Vis Diffuse Reflectance Spec-troscopy(DRS). The results indicated that the structural and photocatalytic properties of SrFeO3 greatly improved by ultrasonic radiation. When compared to SrFeO3 prepared by ordinary route, the SrFeO3 by ultrasonic radiation exhibited smaller particle size, red-shifted band edge of UV-Vis adsorption spectra.

The fluorine-containing polyimides with nonlinear optical were synthesized using the monomers 2,2-bis(3-amino-4-hydroxy phenyl) hexafluoropropane (6FHP), 4,4’-(hexafluoroiso-propylidene) diphthalic anhydride (6FDA) or pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA) and Dispered Red 1 (DR1) as an active chromophore. The hybrid materials were obtained with Sol-Gel technique. 29Si nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy were used to characterize the structure of the polyimide/SiO2 hybrid. The results revealed that Q3, Q4 and T3 were the major microstructure forming a network structure. The electro-optic coefficients of nonlinear optical polymers and hybrids were measured by attenuated-total-reflection (ATR) technique. They were 32,28,34 and 29 pm/V, separately. Their results showed that they had high EO coefficients.

[4-(2-hydroxy-3-butoxy-1-propoxy)phenyl]phenyliodonium hexafluoroantimonate (BPI·SbF6) was prepared by the reaction of 2-propanol,1-butoxy-3-phenoxy with [hydroxy(tosyloxy)io-do]benzene in approximately 79% yield. The later product BPI·SbF6 was identified by infrared spectrum, UV spectrum, 1HNMR spectrum and element analysis. The characteristic curves of pho-topolymerization system CY179/BPI·SbF6 with different concentration of initiator BPI·SbF6 and the characteristic post-curves of photopolymerization system CY179/BPI·SbF6 with different UV curing time were studied.
