As a new type of near infrared dye,croconium dyes have drawn much attention for their potential applications in the fields of optical record and storage,and nonlinear optical materials because of their thermal and optical stability as well as intense fluorescence.The third-order optical nonlinearities and responses of a croconium dye(1,3-bis[(3,3-dimethylindolin-2-ylidene)methyl] croconine) in tetrahydrofuran(THF) solution and in poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA) coating films were measured using a femtosecond degenerate four-wave mixing(DFWM) technique with a laser pulse of 130 fs system under resonant conditions.The molecular hyperpolarizability,γ of the croconium dye in THF solution was determined to be about 5.3×10
-29
esu,and the third-order nonlinear optical susceptibilities,χ
(3)
of the present PMMA coating films containing the croconium dye was measured to be of the order of 10
-8
esu.Furthermore,the dynamic of DFWM optical response for croconium dye was also studied and analysed.

The uniform Ag nanoclusters were prepared by using G5.0-OH PAMAM dendrimer as template under ultraviolet radiation.Transmission electron microscopy,UV-Vis absorption and resonance scattering were used to characterize the obtained Ag nanoclusters.The results showed that the size and size distribution of the prepared silver nanoclusters depend on the concentration of PAMAM dendrimers,the molar ratio of silver ions and PAMAM dendrimers and the reaction time.On the basis that the diameter of the obtained Ag nanoclusters is smaller than the calculation diameter of G5.0-OH PAMAM,it could be suggested that G5.0-OH PAMAM dendrimer act as "inner template".Influences of synthesis conditions on the photoluminescence efficiency of Ag nanoclusters were investigated.The PL of Ag nanoclusters is tunable by changing the size of nanoclusters.

In this paper,Copper phthalocyanine(CuPc) was dissolved by Lewis acid complexation-mediated solubilization(LAPS).The mechanism of Lewis acid complexation-mediated solubilization was simply discussed.At the same time,the effect of different solvents to the polymorphism of CuPc was studied.Finally,CuPc ultrafine particles were successfully fabricated by LAPS method combined with microfludics and characterized by dynamic light scattering(DLS),atomic force microscope(AFM) and UV-Vis spectroscopy.

A series of TiO
2
/clinoptilolite catalysts(different calcination temperature,different particle size and different loading) were prepared.The catalysts can degrade organic dye RhB under UV irradiation.The results show that they have a better catalytic reactivity when the calcination temperature is 500 ℃,the particle size is 180—200 mesh and the authentic mass fraction is 6.18%.It was compared with P25.The results show that its degradation rate is slower than P25:After UV light irradiation of 84 minutes,COD change of P25 is 100%.But after UV light irradiation of 5.5 h,COD change of TiO
2
/clinoptilolite calcinated at 500 ℃ is 71.8%.But TiO
2
/clinoptilolite catalysts are easier to reuse.Because the particle size of P25 is smaller,its sediment rate is slower and it can’t fastly be separated.XRD,TEM,BET,TG-DTA,UV,and Visible diffuse reflectance spectra were employed to characterize these catalysts.The experimental results show that they will have a better photocatalytic reactivity when their BET surface area is bigger.

New advances of chemical sensitization to photothermographic materials in present years were reviewed in this paper.Based on the analysis of references and the author’s experimental results,the viewpoints relating to effective sensitization methods used to raise the sensitivity of PTG materials by raising the outer latent image formation efficiency of silver halide or improving the thermal transiton ability of silver ions donors were brought forward.Finally,some personal proposals about the development of chemical sensitization of PTG materials were introduced as well.
