nanocrystals were synthesized by a coordinate precipitation method.In a high temperature organic solution the LaCl

and tributyl phosphate form a complex and react with H

PO

to yield LaPO
4
nanocrystals.The structural properties of LaPO
4
nanocrystals were studied by X-ray diffraction(XRD),high resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM),Fourier transform infrared spectrometer(FT-IR). HRTEM measured the size about 4 nm and showed the clear lattice fringe image of the nanocrystals which validated the high crystallinity.XRD patterns show that the samples crystallized in monazite structure.The emission of the nanocrystals under 975 nm excited was measured and the peak was at 1535 nm.Elemental analysis result revealed that the common desiccation in vacuum was failed to remove the residual quenching group such as O—H and C—H.When coated by a LaPO
4
shell the fluorescence intensity was obviously enhanced.It validated the conclusion that the core/shell structure could enhance the emission of nanocrystals.

Nicotinic acid was introduced as a toner into the thermographic material based on silver stearate(AgSt).The results showed that nicotinic acid obviously increased the developed silver density, changed the image color from golden-yellow to black,altered the morphology of developed silver particle,enlarged the silver particle size,and aligned the silver particles as paralleled chains of pearls.Further study revealed that nicotinic acid lowered the thermal transition temperature of the silver source and the values of pH and pAg in the emulsion of the said material.Novel silver carboxylate complex may have been resulted by heating the mixture of AgSt and Nicotinic acid.

Fast erasable photochromic films with well photofatigue property are prepared by blending of copper chloride into viologen/polyvinylpyrrolidone mixture.Photochromic performance,thermal fading and photofatigue properties of the films were studied.It has been found that with the addition of copper chloride there is color lost in the first UV irradiation,but the fading rate of the colored films are faster.The half life at 60℃of the film,prepared by exposing to UV irradiation for 80 s and mole ratio of copper chloride to viologen 1:1,is abut 9 min,in comparing with 54 min for the film with no copper chloride.The higher mole ratio of copper chloride in the films,the faster the thermal erasing rate is.With increasing of coloring-discoloration cycle number,the photochromic color of the films become much deeper,and the more copper chloride in the films,the deeper the color is.These photochromic films can be used for information storage,sunglass and smart windows.

The poly(N-(p-carboxylphenyl)methacrylamide-co-N-phenylmaleimide) was copolymerized with monomer N-(p-carboxylphenyl)methacrylamide(NCMA) and N-phenylmaleimide(NPMI). To apply this copolymer as the matrix resin with photosensitizer and solvents to fomulate a novel thermostable UV positive photoresist.The photoresist formulation and the photolithographic process were studied and optimized.Its optimal formulation was 15%—20%matrix resin, 4.5%—6%photo-sensitizer,and 70%—80%solvent,and its photolithographic process was spincoating 30 s(4000 rpm),pre-baking 4 min at 90℃,exposuring 3 min,developing in 0.2% TMAH aqueous solution for 10 s and then post-baking 2 min at 90℃.

Soft spherical and cuboid-like silica hollow structures were successfully fabricated using self-assembled pyrene nanostructures as template.When different amounts of pyrene self-assembled in CTAB solution,resultant self-assembled structures showed notable morphological changes from spheres to cuboids.These templates were employed for their sol-gel transcription of silica.As a result, transcribed silica structures of spheres to cuboids were obtained depending on the volume fraction of pyrene.The template was eventually removed by ethanol,giving soft spherical(ca.400 nm in diameter) and cuoboid-like(0.5—2.5μm in length) silica hollow structures.These results displayed the advantages of using organic nanostructures as template for fabrication of inorganic hollow structures in terms of easy syntheses,diverse structures,and flexibility of controlling the morphologies of inorganic structures.
