Mechanically durable antireflective coatings are used to reduce surface reflection and increase light transmittance. They exhibit low density, adjustable refractive index and high abrasion-resistance. In the current paper, recent researches on mechanically durable antireflective coatings were reviewed. It introduced the mechanism and influence factors of acid-catalyzed sol-gel process for preparing silica sols, the preparation of mechanically durable antireflective coatings by acid catalyzed sol-gel process and two methods which assist the process. The research perspectives and application potentials were also discussed.

Cyclic acetals, a kind of photo-sensitive compounds, were widely investigated during the 1960s.However, the drawbacks of cyclic acetals, such as the narrow range of absorption wavelength and the low initiation efficiency, had limited the development in the late 20th century. Nevertheless, in the recent five years, cyclic acetals such as 1,3-benzodioxole have drawn renewed attention in photopolymerization, especially in the field of photopolymerized biomaterials, since cyclic acetals could be used as coinitiator so as to increase the initiation efficiency or decrease the toxicity of photoinitiating system. In this paper, the photopolymerization behavior of cyclic acetals has been systematically described, and the research progress of cyclic acetals as photoinitiator or co-initiator has also been discussed in detail.

Bithiophene bridged bis-terpyridine (BTTPY) was synthesized in a total yield of 13%, via formylation, Kröhnke pyridine synthesis and Suzuki coupling with 2,5-dibromothiophene as raw material. UV-Vis and fluorescence spectra of BTTPY exhibit strong red shift in acetic acid and trifluoroacetic due to strong protonation. UV-Vis titration shows that complexation of BTTPY and M2+ (Ni2+, Zn2+, Cd2+, Cu2+) could be occurred with a coordination ratio of 1:1. AFM image displays that organometallic polymer could be formed through complexation of BTTPY and Cd2+.

A series of UV-heat hybrid curable compositions were prepared by using organosilicon modified epoxy monoacrylates (OMEMA) as resins. The change of absorption peaks of double bond and epoxy group were identified by FTIR spectra during UV-heat curing process. The influence of different kinds and content of active diluents on the gel content, water absorption and water contact angle of UV-heat cured films were investigated. Mass content of Si in surface of UV-heat cured films was tested by the energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS). The gel contents of UV cured films were lower than 86.5%, and the gel contents of UV-heat cured films were about 97%. Compared to the epoxy monoacrylates (EMA) compositions with same active diluents, the water contact angle of UV-heat cured films of OMEMA system was increased from 62.53 to 99.27. The data of EDS testing proved that the Si content of air side of UV-heat cured films was higher than glass side.

A new fluorionophore, which is composed of anthraquinone and a hydroxyl ethanol-amine receptor, has been synthesized. Effect of metal ions on the fluorescence of the ionophore was investigated. The results show that the ionophore displays a highly selective and sensitive response of fluorescence quenching toward Fe3+ in neutral buffer aqueous solution. There is a good linear relationship between the fluorescence intensity and Fe3+ concentration in the range of 4.0?10-5-3.0?10-4 mol/L. The detection limit is 3.8?10-7 mol/L.

The curable photoinitiator of 4-(acrylate-2-hydroxypropylate-3-oxy) benzophenone(AEBP) containing unsaturated double bond was synthesized by 4-(2,3-epoxypropoxy) benzophenone(EBP) and acrylic acid through ring-open reaction method. The chemical structure was characterized by FT-IR and 1HNMR. The UV absorption wavelength of AEBP was characterized by UV-Vis spectrum. The photopolymerization kinetics of AEBP were investigated by RT-IR, extraction method was applied to compare the migration of BP with AEBP after cured. The results showed that double bond conversion increased with the increase of AEBP concentration, when EDAB concentration was 1.2%, the final double bond conversion was the optimum, the initiating efficiency of AEBP with diacrylate monomer were better than that with triacrylate monomer. The rate of polymerization increased with light intensity. After cured with monomers, the migration of AEBP reduced greatly compared with that of traditional BP.

SnS thin films were prepared by two-stage process. Sn precursor layers were deposited on glass substrates by sputtering and followed by sulfurization of the metallic tin precursor layers at 220℃ in a furnace for 60 min. The characterization results of microstructures, composition and optical and electrical properties show that the SnS film presents p-type conductivity and has a (040) preferred grain orientation; SnS film has an orthorhombic structure, and the surface is uniform and density with the ratio of Sn to S close to 1. It is found that the film shows a high optical absorption coefficient of 5×104 cm-1 and persistent photoconductivity effect. It has a direct energy band gap of 1.23 eV. The prepared SnS film is useful as an absorption layer of solar cells and for fabrication of photo-sensitive device.
