Abstract: The spectra of charge transfer complexes (CTC) formed between 10,10′-dialkyl-9,9′-biacridinium nitrates (and other anion salts) and potassium p-substituted phenolates in acetonitrile were measured spectrophotometrically. The electronic affinity (EA) values of 10,10′-dialkyl-9,9′-biacridinium nitrates were calculated, and c values were determined at the same time. The results showed that substitutent on 10-position of biacridinium salts has a little effect on the value of its EA; the kind of anion has a little effect on the EA value of this kind anion 10,10′-dialkyl-9,9′-biacridinium salt, and the EA and υ when potassium p-methyl (or methoxyl)-phenolate acted as donor with 10,10′-dialkyl-9,9′-biacridinium nitrates has a good linear relationship.
