Abstract: A tetrabenzo[15-crown-5] substituted phthalocyanine was synthesized and the spectroscopic behavior of Rb+-induced dimerization of crowned phthalocyanine has been studied. It was found that the cation-induced dimerization proceeds in three stages which depends on the concentration of the ions. The experimental data obtained by UV-VIS absorption studies were analyzed with a computer program and the monomer-dimer equilibrium constant was calculated.
