Abstract: Five asymmetry pentamethine cyanine dyes were synthesized and structured.Maxima of absorption and fluorescent spectra were at about 646—666 nm in methanol.Photobleaching experiment proved that photostability of the dye with asymmetry-substituted group was higher than that with symmetry-substituted group.Relation of fluorescent spectra and pH value indicated that the dye with phenyl-substituted group improved the photostability in acid or based solvents.

Key words: pentamethine cyanine dye, fluorescent labeling, photostability, absorption spectra, fluorescent quantum yield
