Abstract: A new fluoride colorimetric chemosensor 1 was designed and synthesized based on coumafin derivatives.A significant color change from pale pink to blueviolet was observed visually (naked-eye) upon addition of fluoride ions to a solution of compound 1 in acetonitrile, and other an-ions include Cl-,Br-,I-,H2PO4-,NO3-,HSO4-,AcO-,almost have no changes. On the other hand, the F- ion first establishes a hydrogen-bonding interaction with 1 and then on addition of more F- ion,induces-N-H deprotonation, due to the formation of [FHF]-.The deprotonation process promotes intramolecular charge transfer of 1 and induces a red shift of its absorption spectrum.
