Abstract: The maximum absorption wavelength (λa),absorption coefficient (ε),maximum emission wavelength (λe) of azocoumarin compounds were measured,at the same time, the second-order nonlinear polarizabilities (βxxx) of these compounds were determined by solvatochromic method. The results show that these compounds have high values of second-order nonlinear polarizability in solution.

Key words: azocoumarin, second-order nonlinear polarizability, solvatochromic method
