Abstract: In this study, the accuracy of two-dimensional echocardiography (2DE) and left ventricular opacification (LVO) in measurement the left ventricular wall thickness of cardiovascular disease was analyzed. 226 patients with cardiovascular diseases were examined by 2DE and LVO. The results of LVO were used as reference standard, the accuracy of 2DE in measurement the left ventricular wall thickness was analyzed. The results showed that the diastolic wall thickness of 2DE in measurement the apical two chamber (3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 segments), apical three chamber (4, 10, 13, 16 segments) and apical four chamber (5, 14, 17 segments) were compared with LVO, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The systolic wall thickness of 2DE in measurement the apical two chamber (3,6,15,18 segments), apical three chamber (4,10,16 segments) and apical four chamber (5,17 segments) were compared with LVO, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Therefore, 2DE in measurement the wall thickness of apical four chamber and apical three chamber is accurate. LVO should be used for accurate measurement the wall thickness of apical two chamber.
