Abstract: The aim of this study was to analyze the clinical characteristics and correlation between rotator cuff injury and long head of the biceps brachii tendinopathy by ultrasonography. The diagnostic consistency between the results of preoperative shoulder ultrasound examination and the results of shoulder arthroscopy in 32 patients was tested. The differences of LHBT between two groups were compared and analyzed. The correlation between the type and incidence of LHBT and the range of rotator cuff tear was also analyzed. The results of preoperative shoulder ultrasound examination and arthroscopic surgery were moderately high in diagnostic consistency. LHBT types showed no significant difference among different tear types of rotator cuff, while LHBT subluxation showed significant difference among groups. There was no significant correlation between LHBT type and the tear range of rotator cuff. With the increase of tear range, the total incidence of LHBT increased. In conclusion, LHBT are correlated with rotator cuff injury. Early diagnosis and repair of rotator cuff injury will prevent further deterioration of LHBT.
