Abstract: This paper described the syntheses of 8 dicarbocyanine dyes containing α β,δ-propenyle-ne bridged chain. A test of their photographic properties has been made. It is proved that the pentamethine dyes with α β,δ-propenylene bridged chain may be used as effective red sensi-tizers. The emulsion sensitized with these dyes have good storage stability in the presence of cyan colour coupler C-1.
