Abstract: The electrochemical method for measuring rate constants of chemical reaction following electrochemical reaction (EC-reaction) was discussed. The deamination rate constants of oxidized color developing agent CD-2 in the pH range bfetween 1.85 and 12.5 were measured. In acid soulution (pH<5) log k1 decreases with increasing pH. In alkaline solution (pH>7) log kr increases with increasing pH. In neutral or weak acid solution (pH 5-7) the deamination rate constant is nearly pH independent. The mechanism of the deamination reaction was discussed.
