Abstract: Photoreduction of methylviologen by ascorbic acid was observed in the Chlorophyll a incorporated liposome, containing ascorbic acid in the internal phase and MV2+ in the external. In the experiment, tris (hydroxymethyl aminomethane) was served not only as a buffering agent but also as a proton carrier. The effect of pH value on the photosensitized reaction was also discussed.

Key words: liposome, chlorophylla, methyl viologen
