Abstract: In this work, the electronic spectra of dimethylamino-benzylideneimine were investigated. The result shows that charge transfer from a donor located at the end of molecule to an acceptor at the other end of the conjugated molecule 3 in theground state occurs, the absorption wave-length of 3 shifts from 315 nm to 405 nm comparing with 1.No charge transfer for compounds 4, 5, 6 are observed in the ground state, but the electron transfer occurs obviously in the excited state, this make the intensity of fluorescence decrease strongly. The fluorescence quenching of compound 1 by MMA also is observed, it indicates that an electron transfer occursbetween 1 and MMA.The fluorescence of 1 decreases after addition of acrylic acid owing to the hydrolysis of Schiff bases.
