Abstract: The electrochemical redox behavior of compound 13-SO3Na-DDHA in buffer solution of different pH values repertively has been studied. There is a linear relationship between the reduction potential of carbonyl group and pH value. The slope of this line is about 60mV/pH. This result corresponds to one step 2-electron,2-proton reduction process:Q+2H++2e=QH2. As a polar but non-proton solvent,DMF is favorable for radicalstabilization. If DMF is added to a buffer solution, this compound may be reduced by twostep one-electron processes.
