Abstract: The inversely photochromic property of an indoline spiropyran is investigated by UV-visible and 1HNMR spectra. The results indicate that the polarity of solvent has promineneffect on the λmax of its colored merocyanine form(MC),but the effects on the λmax of theclosed form(SP) and the coloration rate after visible bleaching are rather weak. The lighbleaching quantum yield of the colored form in methanol is determinated to be 0.096,Fromthe 1HNMR spectra, the structural characteristics of MC,SP are analyzed.
