Abstract: Y2O3/TiO2 catalysts were prepared by impregnation method and characterized by means of UV,SEM,and BET.Being a model reaction, the photocatalytic degradation of DBS solution was investigated in TiO2 and Y2O3/TiO2 powder suspensions and irradiated by high pressure mercury lamp.Photocatalytic degradation efficiency of different catalysts were evaluated by the apparent first-order kinetic constant and the decomposition rate of DBS.The effects of preparation conditions, the mass ratio and adsorption of Y2O3/TiO2 ,calcination conditions and special surface area on composite photocatalyst photoactivity were also investigated. Results show that there exists a best ratio value between Y2O3 and TiO2,while the mass ratio of composite catalyst is 1 to 200,the photocatalytic activity of Y2O3/TiO2 catalyst is 2.4 times as that of TiO2.
