Abstract: Thermochromism of nickel stearate(NiSt2) and pyrogallic acid(PGA)was reported. The optical density of polyvinyl alcohol coating of NiSt2 plus PGA increased linearly with raise of temperature and prolong of time.According to the solubility and absorption spectrum,a molecular compound may have been formed by NiSt2 and PGA during the heating process, and this molecular compound may form one or more kinds of molecular aggregator in solvent by increasing its concentration. The molecular aggregator lead to a new and broad absorption in visible region.

Key words: nickel stearate, thermochromism, pyrogallic acid, absorption spectrum
