Abstract: This paper reports chlorophyll sensitized photooxidation of myrcene with simultaneous reduction of hydroperoxides with TBABH4 to the corresponding mixture of secondary and tertiary allylic alcohols. Effect of sensitizers, RB. HA and Chl., irradiation time and the amount of reductant on product distribution were discussed. The experimental results show that the synthesis of ipsdienol from myrcene with chlorophyll as a sensitizer can obtain ipsdienol in good yield.

Key words: chlorophyll, myrcene, ipsdienol, tetrabutylammonium borohydride
