Abstract: Sandwich cells, SnO2/chl a/PVA/SnO2 and SnCychl a/PVA/M(M = Al, Zn), were made up of chlorophyll electrodes that were prepared with chlorophyll a (chl a) and other electrodes. The output characters and characteristic parameters of the cells were measured. The power conversion efficiency is about 10-4%.In addition, the effective mechanism of hydroqui-none (H2Q) on chlorophyll cells was discussed preliminarily.

Key words: chlorophyll, hydroquinone, sandwich cell, photovoltaic effect
