Abstract: AgBr was deposited in an anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) template, and the photographic development was employed subsequently. It was observed that filament silver was mostly formed on the surface of template by D-72 developer, silver particles were mostly formed on the surface of tem-plate by D-76 developer, and twisted silver wires were formed inside the AAO pores by a developer in situ.It may be resulted from the difference of matter transfer and developer activity among the three developers. The mechanism of direct electron transfer and indirect electron transfer was pro-posed to explain the difference of morphology.

Key words: AAO template, silver bromide, photographic development, matter transfer, electron transfer
