Abstract: Organic electroluminescence has the virtues of high luminance and efficiency. The organic electroluminescent materials also have good processing property. These virtues are beyond compare,as to the traditional inorganic and liquid crystal display materials.Furthermore, the emitting color can be tuned by adulteration or changing the molecules’ structure. In this paper the recent advancements of the electroluminescence of organic small molecules are reviewed. The mechanism of the organic electroluminescence and its wide application foreground are also showed in brief.

Key words: organic electroluminescence, organometallic complexes, organic small molecule compounds
