Abstract: The compounds 1,3-bis(4-dimethyaminopheny1)-2,4-dihydroxy-dihydroxide cy-clobutenediylium bis(inner salt)[DMCS]and 1,3-bis(4-dihexadecylaminopheny1)-2,4-di-hydroxy-dihydroxide cyclobutenediylium bis(inner salt)[DHCS]were synthesized.The photophysical behaviors of DMCS and DHCS in different solvents were studied and their differences of dipole moment between ground state and excited state were calculated.Dimer ofDMCS in CTAB and aggregate of DHCS in dioxane-water were investigated and criticalaggegation composition(CΨ)and critical aggregation concentration(CA)of DHCS weremeasured.
