Abstract: A series of crown ether compound I~Ⅷ was used to sensitize cubic AgBr and AgIBr emulsion, respectively. The results show that(1)the esensitivity of the emulsions were increased obviously by using crown I~Ⅳand the order of the ability to increase sensitivity was I<Ⅱ<Ⅲ<Ⅳ;(2)the sensitivity of AgBr emulsion was ecreased by using crown ether V;(3)the sensitivity of emulsion was not changed by using crown Ⅵ~Ⅷ. According to the results,a rule of the sensitization effect of crown ether on silver halide emulsion may be suggested:only when the number of in crown ring is greater than or equal to five, the crown ether show sensitization effect on silver halide emulsion.
