Abstract: New advances of chemical sensitization to photothermographic materials in present years were reviewed in this paper.Based on the analysis of references and the author’s experimental results, the viewpoints relating to effective sensitization methods used to raise the sensitivity of PTG materials by raising the outer latent image formation efficiency of silver halide or improving the thermal transiton ability of silver ions donors were brought forward. Finally, some personal proposals about the development of chemical sensitization of PTG materials were introduced as well.

Key words: photothermographic materials, drying silver materials, silver halide, chemical sensitization, sensitivity
