Abstract: Silver chloride cubic emulsions and {100} T-grain emulsions doped by formate on different positions of microcrystal were prepared. As a hole-traping dopant, formate can enhance the photographic sensitivity of the emulsions as high as 3—8 times without an increase in fog density. It was noted that the photosensitivity of the emulsions homogeneously doped by formate was higher than that of the emulsions doped only on surfaces.Synergetic sensitizing effects of the doped formate and sulfur or sulfur-plus-gold or spectral sensitization were observed in every doped emulsion, which can improve the sensitometric characteristics of the emulsion further.
