Abstract: In this paper five short wavelength cyanine dyes have been studied with the comparison of their spectral sensitizations on silver chloride emulsions by UV-Vis spectroscopy and other methods. The results show that three cyanine dyes can be adsorbed on silver grains effectively indicating these good spectral sensitization can improve the sensitivity of the silver chloride emulsion in the short wavelength.
