Oxidation-Controlled Fluorescent Switch Based on Conjugated Tetrathiafulvalene-Anthracene System

Abstract: The conjugated dyad system TTFan,linking the strong fluorescent anthracene unit to tetrathiafulvalene moiety through a double bond,was synthesized by the Witting reaction.Upon oxidation of the TTF moiety in TTFan,the electron-donating ability of TTF was reduced dramatically.As a result,the “off-on” process restored the fluorescence of anthracene quenched by the neutral TTF.
