Abstract: A new soluble anthracene derivative 2-tert-butyl-9,10-bis (9,9-dipropylfluorenyl)anthracene was designed and synthesized. The compound has high solubility in common organic solvent and does not tend to form crystal due to introducing of the flexible alkyl groups.Through theoretical calculations we found that the compound has two stable conformations and the substituents are highly twisted, which can mitigate unfavorable steric interacton. The compound exhibits blue-light emission in dichloromethane solution (λmax=443 nm) and solid state (λmax=450 nm),the fluorescence quantum efficiency in cyclohexane solution is measured to be 0.78.TGA and DSC results show the compound has high thermal stabilities, the decomposition temperature and glass transition temperature are 365℃ and 126℃ respectively.
