Abstract: The photochemical method was used to replace the traditional method, such as the metal catalyst,to synthesize the important drug intermediate oxazolidinone. The advantages of this procedure were high yields, mild reaction conditions, simple protocol, and clean. At the same time, the effects of three different solvents acetone, methanol, acetonitrile on the yields of the products were studied. The stereo-selectivity was increased with the enlargement of the polarity of solvents.

Key words: photochemistry, oxazolidinone, solvent effect, chiral catalyst
