Abstract

Abstract: 2-isopropylthioxanthone(ITX) was oxidated by eerie ammonium nitrate in the mixture of acetonitrile and water to give the corresponding ITX sulphoxide,Then 10-(4-biphenyl)-2-isopropy-lthioxanthone sulfonium hexafluorophosphate salt was obtained by the reaction of the ITX sulpoxide with biphenyl in the present of acetic acid,dichloromethane and concentrated sulphuric acid to give the corresponding sulfonium salt,which was exchanged with KPF₆.The structure of 10-(4-biphenyl)-2-isopropylthioxanthone sulfonium hexafluorophosphate salt was identified by UV,IR and H-NMR.
