Abstract:

A tetraphenylethene derivative (Model-TPE) was design and synthesized. The photophysical studies demonstrate that Model-TPE showes typical AIE (aggregation induced emission) character. Model-TPE proceeded photocyclization upon UV irradiation in the presence of oxygen, which has been approved by 1HNMR, MALDI-TOF MS and HPLC studies. The photocyclization at substitute and non-substitute phenyl side gave two isomers. The mechanism of photocyclization of Model-TPE was discussed. The experiment results shown here provide important information for potential applications of tetraphenylethene derivatives as emitting and sensing materials.
